NHSE has announced that from 1st April 2022 patients will be granted access to a much wider range of data in their online services (NHS app, EMIS Patient Access, or similar).
They are doing this by upgrading the level of access that most patients aged 16 and above will receive, by default, using their online patient login.
This may have significant benefits for most, if not all patients, but raises issues to do with good data handling, which require time for the practice to work through.
The practice is also extremely busy dealing with the double burden of COVID and non-COVID related health concerns.
For this reason, we have decided that an enhanced review of all patient notes is needed before we can agree to this functionality being enabled.
If you WOULD like this functionality to be enabled for you, and have already been granted online access, please mention it at your next routine contact with the surgery.
Please DO NOT contact the surgery specifically to ask for this to be enabled unless you are already contacting us for another reason. It is currently not possible for the practice to prioritise this workload, alongside all other competing clinical demands on our time
